This is Why I'm So Thankful!

Self-Discipline?

I started this new devotional plan on my Bible app titled "Altar Ego". So far, it's really helping me at a  critical time in my life. This was one of the devotions the other night & I really wanted to share it with you all. Don't we all struggle with self-discipline at times?? I know I do & I'm not afraid to say I struggle with it even today! Prayer works and I know that is what gets me through!

45 Life Lessons, Written By A 90 Year Old Woman

45 LIFE LESSONS, WRITTEN BY A 90 YEAR OLD

1. Life isn’t fair, but it’s still good.
2. When in doubt, just take the next small step.
3. Life is too short not to enjoy it.
4. Your job won’t take care of you when you are sick. Your friends and family will.
5. Don’t buy stuff you don’t need.
6. You don’t have to win every argument. Stay true to yourself.
7. Cry with someone. It’s more healing than crying alone.
8. It’s OK to get angry with God. He can take it.
9. Save for things that matter.
10. When it comes to chocolate, resistance is futile.
11. Make peace with your past so it won’t screw up the present.
12. It’s OK to let your children see you cry.
13. Don’t compare your life to others. You have no idea what their journey is all about.
14. If a relationship has to be a secret, you shouldn’t be in it.
15. Everything can change in the blink of an eye… But don’t worry; God never blinks.
16. Take a deep breath. It calms the mind.
17. Get rid of anything that isn’t useful.  Clutter weighs you down in many ways.
18. Whatever doesn’t kill you really does make you stronger.
19. It’s never too late to be happy.  But it’s all up to you and no one else.
20. When it comes to going after what you love in life, don’t take no for an answer.
21. Burn the candles, use the nice sheets, wear the fancy lingerie. Don’t save it for a special occasion. Today is special.
22. Overprepare, then go with the flow.
23. Be eccentric now. Don’t wait for old age to wear purple.
24. The most important sex organ is the brain.
25. No one is in charge of your happiness but you.
26. Frame every so-called disaster with these words, ‘In five years, will this matter?’
27. Always choose Life.
28. Forgive but don’t forget.
29. What other people think of you is none of your business.
30. Time heals almost everything. Give Time time.
31. However good or bad a situation is, it will change.
32. Don’t take yourself so seriously. No one else does.
33. Believe in miracles.
34. God loves you because of who God is, not because of anything you did or didn’t do.
35. Don’t audit life. Show up and make the most of it now.
36. Growing old beats the alternative — dying young.
37. Your children get only one childhood.
38. All that truly matters in the end is that you loved.
39. Get outside every day. Miracles are waiting everywhere.
40. If we all threw our problems in a pile and saw everyone else’s, we’d
grab ours back.
41. Envy is a waste of time. Accept what you already have, not what you think you need.
42. The best is yet to come…
43. No matter how you feel, get up, dress up and show up.
44. Yield.
45. Life isn’t tied with a bow, but it’s still a gift.

Resurrection SUNDAY 2013

BNspired hopes everyone enjoyed Resurrection Sunday 2013. John 11:25 "I Am The Resurrection And The Life"

Devotion: Jesus was nailed to a cross because He said He was the Son of God. He died on that cross. After 3 days, His body rose from the dead and was seen walking and talking with others. Resurrection Day is the day we celebrated his resurrection. Because of his death, He PAID the PRICE for our sins and by believing in Him we can have eternal life. How has Christ's resurrection impacted your life?

Can't stop listening to this song! I can relate to a lot of what he's rapping about. Hope you guys enjoy

The Light

This was my devotion the other night. It says "Are you surrounding yourself with darkness or light? What kinds of influences do you open yourself up to? Even small decisions such as tv shows, music, and the language out of our mouths bring about either darkness or light. Shine light into your life so that you don't stumble along the way.

This really hit me hard bc sometimes I know I get so caught up and distracted by tv shows, music, etc. I started praying asking God to help my distractions decrease.

Slow Progress

Progress:
1. a movement toward a goal or to a further or higher stage:;
2. advancement in general.
3. growth or development; continuous improvement:

I came across this picture on IG one day & saved it in my phone. Everyone wants to progress at something in life. For athletes it might be getting better at a specific skill or overall as a team working towards a championship. Students want to progress in their school work. Parents should want to progress into better parents. We all love and desire personal relationships, do we not strive for progress in these relationships? Yes! I could go on and on, but the point I'm trying to make is that we all should be striving to progress in life. Growth in all areas of our lives should be important whether it's progressing in your career, physically into healthier lifestyles, financially in saving money, & so forth. The BIG question is, how many of us make it a priority to progress spiritually?? Is that not the #1 area we all should be striving to progress in? Slow progress in this area is better than no progress! I want to encourage you whoever took the time to read this long post to strive to progress in becoming closer to God. Invest in your personal relationship with him. I'm in the same boat as you are. I feel like I should farther along in my personal walk but I do know I'm much further along than I was before. Everyday I'm making an effort to continue this progression. It's not hard but it's something you have to DECIDE & WANT to do. Make time for him & progress will follow!

Superstitious Much??

This is a devotion from yesterday. It says "Do you look towards luck or superstition to have an impact on your circumstances? Don't you want more than a random chance of good fortune? God has a purpose in our lives & everything happens for a reason. It's always to draw your heart closer to Him. Work on uncrossing your fingers & instead say a prayer. There's more power in purpose than random chance"

I read this devotion & instantly felt convicted. I don't know about you all but being superstitious about stuff has always been a norm for me growing up. I promise every time my hand itches, I swear some money coming my way or how about when my left eye jumps, I was think something bad is going to happen or someone's going to make me mad. Every time I see a red bird, I always make a wish & think good luck is coming my way for sure & every time I see a blue bird I look the other way. Ever seen a black cat cross your car & turned around because it means bad luck? I have! How silly is that? (lol) Just how I grew up, but the GREAT NEWS is I'm working on my faith daily! I realize everything happens for a reason & I know God has a special plan for my life! Regardless of what happens, good or bad, my trust and faith is in God and his promises to me! You can't go wrong trusting Him!

Bible Study Notes on Giving

Here are some Notes on Giving.
Luke 6:3838Give, and you will receive. Your gift will return to you in full—pressed down, shaken together to make room for more, running over, and poured into your lap. The amount you give will determine the amount you get back.

One Thing I Do Know!

So Much Hope, Inspiration, & Encouragement in these 2 vereses!

FastForward Experience

The 21 Day FastForward was a Great Experience for me! This was my first time fasting from anything for God and I'm So Glad I Did It. I've never prayed so much in my life lol. It definitely wasn't easy but it was well worth it.

I decided to fast from social networks, rap & RnB music, sweets, as well as sodas or juice. I drunk nothing but water for the entire fast. The 1st week I also decided to fast from watching tv. This was pretty tough but it was the closest I ever been to God & his word. The last week I also decided to do the Daniel fast which is where you only can eat vegetables & fruit. This was definitely the hardest part of the fast. I wanted to give in sooo many times but I relied on prayer and it definitely worked.

I did have a couple(2) slip ups during the fast but I'm just thankful that despite my shortcomings God still loves me and shows me his POWER daily. I was able to see God move not just in my life but in my family life as well! These are the prayers I prayed consistently on the Fast. I wanted to put them up just incase you might want to pray them yourselves. I'm Thankful Pastor A.D. inspired me through his teachings and word to do this because it has helped me grow even stronger in my faith.

Galatians 6:9

This verse keeps me going, especially while I've been on this fast. It definitely hasn't been easy, but I'm determined to finish it strong!
